Our Favorite Bratt Decor Crib

At Luxury Baby Nursery, a definite fan favorite is our furniture collection by Bratt Decor. Bratt Decor offers beautiful cribs, dressers, nightstands, armoires, and more for your baby's nursery. We've found that our favorite Bratt Decor Crib changes each year, but, this year we're going with the Bratt Decor Chelsea Lifetime Crib in Espresso.

This crib features a stationary gate. The Chelsea lifetime crib starts as a beautiful crib and grows into a full size bed. Shown in rich, deep stained espresso, this design is the epitome of majesty. Lyrical lines, soft curves, and ornate panels define this crib's beauty. To convert crib to a full bed, you must buy a twin/full metal bedframe and footboard adapter (sold separately). The Chelsea lifetime crib fits a standard U.S. mattress and has a stationary gate. Crib offers three heights for the mattress. Pink and Black nurseries are all the rage for baby girls in 2011, and, we're loving this trend! Gone are the days of cutesy cartoon characters filling your baby's bedroom, and, today's parents are incorporating their own tastes into the littlest member of the family's living quarters. We say, it's about time! Finally, baby nursery rule books have been tossed out with the dirty diapers, and, creativity and imagination has no limit, making the nursery decor process (and overall pregnancy) much more fun and exciting!

One of our new faves is New Arrivals Mayfair Lane Crib Bedding. We've always been a fan of pink and black hues, but we love the way New Arrivals' designers have taken creative fun and design to a new level by combining damask fabrics with polka dots and stripes. It was a risk...and it paid off beautifully!

Fortunately for expectant parents, it's a cinch to get the look shown here! The stunning fabric colors and pattern combinations used in Mayfair Lane speak for themselves, so, there is very little to add to your baby's nursery as too much decor can quickly lead to design overload with this set...this is great news for someone like me who isn't the craftiest gal in town but has fabulous taste and knows what she loves!

To get the look of our Mayfair Lane room shot, it's really easy as 1, 2, 3!

Start with the Mayfair Lane Crib Bedding, Curtain Panels, Framed Memoboard, Accent Pillow, and Diaper Changing Pad Cover. Once this step is complete half of the design battle is already complete! Even better? All of these items can be purchased in one step right here!
We love the look of the cursive monogram letters as shown in this photo. For contrast, we suggest following New Arrivals' lead and ordering the smaller 9" cursive wall letters for baby's first and middle initial, and, go with the larger 15" cursive letter for baby's last name. When choosing your fabric for hanging, the sample shown here is "Black White Dot."
The Relics Spindle Crib is an identical match to the crib shown in this picture. Of course, for a perfect match, we suggest ordering it in the color Cloud. However, in a world where honesty matters, I must admit I prefer the look of Bratt Decor's SoHo White Crib with Mayfair Lane. Just my two cents. ;)
For an adult glider and ottoman, I would suggest contacting us for one of our Baby Aspen Gliders in a solid color (my first suggestion would be white) with a possible discreet accent color of black or pink. I would definitely keep the glider as simple as possible as the colors and textures in the crib bedding are perfect. The last thing you want to do is add too much contrast to the nursery - at this stage you should have the perfect amount of pizazz and don't want to go into overload!
For all other decor and necessities (lighting, organizers, etc.) I would highly suggest keeping the colors white as to not contrast with the crib bedding set or make the room too busy. I would personally suggest a white or clear chandelier as that would really make the room ultra-chic, just like Mayfair Lane!

I'll be the first to admit - when it comes to designing baby's nurseries, I've always been drawn to more traditional designs - I love elegant crib bedding with long crib skirts, simple lines, and pale walls.

Renee's Twin Baby Nursery

So, as I may have mentioned before, our family is about to expand by two. Yep, my sister Renee is pregnant with twin girls and due any minute! Her baby nursery has been quite a project; we had to transform a spare bedroom which was spongepainted in orange hues and redesign it to become a stunning baby nursery befitting two princesses! I'm attaching one picture here (which Renee will probably kill me for - she's 35 weeks here), but, you can check out the whole baby nursery by visiting our Facebook page.

Designing a nursery for two is definitely a bit more involved than designing a singleton's bedroom. For starters, there is the obvious: the dreaded budget! One thing I love about Renee's baby nursery is that she proved you truly don't have to break the bank to design the baby nursery of your dreams. Renee had her heart set on two key features: Bratt Decor Casablanca Cribs in Pewter and Caden Lane Ashlyn Crib Bedding. So, she purchased those two luxury items, and then found creative ways to economize the rest of the nursery decor without compromising style. I think you'll agree the result is one stunning baby nursery!

Our Starting Ground

As I noted, Renee had her heart set on the Bratt Decor Casablanca Crib in Pewter and Caden Lane's Ashlyn Crib Bedding. So, we used the babies' crib layettes as our starting ground. Choosing a base color for the walls was simple; we simply matched a paint swatch to a hue in the crib bedding set, and voila, we were on our way! So, lesson number one when you're planning your baby's nursery: choose your "must have" items and then work the rest of your budget around that!

Design & Installation

One of the most eye-catching details in Renee's baby nursery is a handpainted wall border which was crafted by Monica, Renee's uber-talented mother-in-law. Monica used the crib bumpers in Renee's bedding set as a template and handpainted the border around the bedroom herself. This is a great money saving tip - paint almost always costs less than wallpaper, and, you don't have to worry about removing it down the road.

Another fabulous money-saving element to Renee's baby nursery is a black chandelier wall decal. It adds the perfect amount of punch to the babies' nursery, and, it only cost $12.00 at A.C. Moore!

As Renee's baby nursery has bare wood floors, Renee wanted to warm the room up with a gorgeous nursery rug. Unfortunately, most of the nursery rugs we found exceeded her budget - after the purchase of the cribs and bedding we had to economize! So, if you can believe it, Renee found her gorgeous pink nursery rug in brand new condition on E-Bay!

Instead of purchasing costly window treatments, Renee purchased Caden Lane's Luxe Pink Fabric by the Yard to design her own custom window treatments. This is a great, affordable option for designing the perfect window treatment in the design of your choice!

Finally, there are the other furnishings in the babies' nursery. Since Renee's Bratt Decor cribs were the real focal points of the nursery, she was able to purchase a less expensive bare white dresser/changer and nightstand. She then used some of the remaining paint from her wall border to accent the white furnishings she purchased, and voila - she had a complete baby nursery that did not break the bank despite the purchase of two luxury cribs and luxury crib bedding sets!
